Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I tour any of your current homes?

Absolutely!  You can schedule a tour of any of our current homes by clicking here.  We'd be happy to accompany you on this tour and answer any questions you may have.

  • What is the average estimated length of your construction process?

Our initial design process prior to construction is intended to take about 6 weeks.  This includes finalizing plans, making selections, and requesting permits.  Once we break ground, our average build time is between 7-8 months.  Build times can vary depending on the size of your home, and the impact of weather conditions.

  • How many homes do you build at once?

At any given time, we could have anywhere from 5 to 10 homes under construction.  We believe it's crucial to walk every home, every room, every day.  We limit the number of homes we build at once in order to ensure our construction manager can visit each project daily.

  • How do you keep homeowners informed throughout the build process?

At minimum, we send our clients an email update at the beinning of each week that summarizes the previous week's progress, sets expectations for the coming week, and provides on-site photos.  Occasional walk-throughs with the construction manager are common throughout the build.  We're always happy to answer questions at any time.  We can be reached via text, email, or phone call, and available to schedule in-person sit downs when desired.

  • How often can I visit my home's construction site?

We encourage our clients to visit their job site as often as they'd like to.  Our construction manager is always available to answer questions, and more than willing to meet you on site to explain the current state of your build.

  • Can you provide a schedule for the entire build so I know what to expect?

You'll have access to your own  client portal through a software we utilize called BuilderTrend.  It's through BuilderTrend that our construction manager maintains a working schedule for each build.  This schedule focuses on general phases of construction, rather than the day-to-day minutia.  For example, you would see several weeks blocked out for "Framing," rather than each element of the framing  process broken down from one day to the next.

  • Under what circumstances do you accept changes to the contract, and how are they handled?

The hope of our design phase is to lock-in as many decisions as possbile in order to prevent the need for changes during construction.  However, we understand that people change their minds.  One advantage to buildling a custom home is that such changes are possible.  We have a change order system that we implement with the aid of BuildTrend.  Any requested changes, and any additional costs they may require, will be recorded and approved through your client portal in BuilderTrend.

  • How does your insurance coverage/Builder's Risk policy protect my property?

As a company, we have general liability and worker's comp insurance to protect our employees.  We also annually confirm that our trade partners have general liability and worker's comp coverage as well.  If we are building on property you own, we strongly encourage you to discuss recommended coverage with your insurance provider.  Our Builder's Risk policy covers unexpected events, such as fires, weather damage, and theft.

  • What warranty coverage do you provide?

We have partnered with Quality Builder's Warranty to offer coverage for your home.  This is a 10-year coverage backed by Liberty Mutual.  It includes an online portal through which you can submit your claims.  To learn more about QBW coverage, click here.

  • What is the difference between a fixed price and cost-plus contract?

Fixed price is an exact dollar amount for the cost of your home.  So long as you remain within your budgeted allowances, and there are no unexpected additional costs, the fixed price is what you will pay at the end of your build.  It's an ideal option for clients that are confident in their choices and budget.

Cost-plus is an agreement to pay the actual cost of your home plus a percentage-based builder's fee.  In this model, you'll see all invoices pertaining to the construction of your home. It's ideal if you prefer more transparency, and/or need some wiggle room with your choices.
